Many guests choose to stay at The Resort at Governor’s Crossing during the Christmas Holidays and inquire about places to eat on Christmas Day. This is a partial list of restaurants open Christmas Day in the greater Sevierville and Pigeon Forge area. This list is incomplete and subject to change.

4th of July 2012 Celebrations in the Smokies

Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge start celebrating July 4th early and go late into the night with fun and excitement for the whole family. The two cities bring back the charm of years gone by with many small town traditions plus some modern day entertainment.

July 4 Schedule of Events:

Midnight: Gatlinburg- The Nations First 4th of July Parade
Noon: Pigeon Forge- 22nd Annual Patriot Celebration begins with a Kid’s Karnival and food vendors will open for the day.
Noon: Gatlinburg- River Raft Regatta
1:30PM: Pigeon Forge- Free entertainment featuring: The Grand Majestic Theater’s Military Tribute, The Soul of Motown, Homer Hart, Daisi Rain, The Pigeon Forge Community Chorus, Chris Janson, and The Lovin Spoonful.
8:30PM: Pigeon Forge- Country Music artist John Anderson
9:45PM: Pigeon Forge- Fireworks display

The Resort @ Governor’s Crossing on Pigeon Forge Hot Deals

We receive many inquires regarding The Resort @ Governor’s Crossing listing on the discount web site Pigeon Forge Hot Deals. First off, The Resort does not own this web site; we are just listed on it. Along with The Resort this web site currently lists a hotel in Sevierville and five other hotels in Pigeon Forge.
We thought we would answer a few frequently asked questions:
How come you didn’t accept my offer?
The misconception put out on TV is that properties will accept 50-75% off their rates. At The Resort these units are individually owned and the homeowner expects a certain rate when their unit is rented. Plus there is a limit to how low a room can be rented due to the costs incurred in renting and cleaning that room. With increased labor costs, the cost of materials and supplies, plus utilities, the old adage “better than any empty room” is no longer true.
How come I have to submit a new offer to change my dates of stay, why can’t you just do it?
The rates accepted or counter offered are an average over the nights that are requested. Weekday and weekend rates differ, sometimes by large amounts; one added or subtracted day may have a big effect. Also, when one reserves at the Pigeon Forge Hot Deals rate they agree they will honor the dates requested and the property will honor that rate, it is a binding agreement.
It says I have five days to reserve but when I went to book my unit it came back as not available?
The rate accepted or countered is honored for five days, not the unit. The unit is not held until a guaranteed reservation is made and that requires a deposit of the first’s night stay.

A few tips on using Pigeon Forge Hot Deals
· As the web site states; Pigeon Forge Hot Deals is for last minute deals. Making an offer 3 months out is going to receive little or no discount.
· Do not make a counter offer for less than your original offer for the same dates and unit type, the system will automatically decline it.
· The system does track email address and names to the dates of stay, trying to beat the system rarely works.

With the Shades of the Past show having been the previous weekend, many cars and trucks either stay over for this show or come in early to pick that ideal location along the Parkway to display their vehicles. We thought we’d post a few images for those unable to attend.

New Dinner Show in the Smokies to Open Aug. 26

The new Lumberjack Feud Dinner & Show will open Aug. 26 on the parkway in Pigeon Forge. The show will feature both actors and professional lumberjack athletes, some of whom have been seen on ESPN. The athletes, in head-to-head competition, will participate in log-rolling, boom-running, speed climbing and wood chopping.

The show, in its new 26,000 square foot arena, will be based loosely on this area’s logging business as the woodlands were transformed in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. With three different price plans guests can choose from a show-only option, a snack-lunch ticket, or the full dinner show. The full dinner show option will include chicken breast, ribs, several sides, dessert, and a beverage.

Adjoining the theater’s retail & ticket center is the new Smoky Mountain Forestry History Center. The museum will highlight the area’s history beginning with native inhabitants continuing with the pioneers & homesteaders in the Smokies during the early days of the logging industry.

2nd Annual Civil War Relic Show & Sale

The 2nd Annual Civil War Relic Show & Sale will be held August 27-28 at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center. After a hugely attended first show in 2010 this years show looks to be bigger and better. The 2011 schedule calls for a living history camp, artillery demonstration, original & reproduction pieces from the National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus GA plus vendors and collectors of Civil War Memorabilia from around the country.

Attendees include The 8th TN (US) & The 63rd TN (CS), who will have members at the living history site, Mr. Ross Moore (vocalist, musician, & Humorist), who will perform on stage Saturday, and O’ROY (Our Reflections of Yesterday).

The Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism is having an online giveaway for a chance to win prizes through July 19, 2011. The grand prize winner will receive Pigeon Forge accommodations for 4, plus four tickets to Dollywood, Wonderworks, Country Tonite, Titanic and 2 gas cards valued at $60 each. There will be an additional 33 prize winners who will receive a gas card worth $60.

First Annual Ice Sculpture Event

1st Annual Ice Sculpture Event

The Titanic Museum Attraction, in Pigeon Forge, will hold its first annual ice sculpture event on Saturday, January 22nd. Professional ice carvers will start with 250 pound blocks of ice and transform the blocks into works of art.

This free event will be held in the Titanic’s parking lot between 10AM-4PM.

Outdoor Drama Moves from Townsend to Pigeon Forge

Officials with “The Passion Play in the Smokies” announced they are bringing the play to the Smoky Mountain Christian Village in Pigeon Forge. The outdoor drama had been held for many years in nearby Townsend, TN. The Christian Village is off of Goldrush Road across from the entrances to Dollywood and Splash Country.

The drama tells the Biblical story of the life of Jesus. The show features an array of sets, colorful costumes, with dramatic sound and lighting to tell the story of Christ. “The Passion Play in the Smokies” holds the distinction of being one of only eight religious dramas in the country known to be held outdoors according to the UNC Institute of Outdoor Drama.

The play’s show dates are scheduled Sept. 23-25, and 30, and Oct. 1-2 and 7-9. The show starts at 7:30 each evening with the pre-show at 6:30 featuring Christian artist Eye2Sky.
