Sevierville will host its annual Bloomin’ BBQ & Bluegrass festival May 17th & 18th in downtown Sevierville. The “street fair” style festival will feature award winning BBQ from around the country plus live entertainment by renowned bluegrass performers.
This year’s headliner isThe Bluegrass Album Band. All of the original members of The Bluegrass Album Band including Doyle Lawson, J.D. Crowe, Tony Rice, Bobby Hicks, and Todd Phillips will be in concert for just the second time this year. This is a rare opportunity to see these legends, as they have not performed live together for almost 30 years before this year.

The Resort @ Governor’s Crossing new “Pirate Ship Playground” is completed almost a full month ahead of schedule and now open. The new playground located between the lazy river and the building housing the front desk office is a dry play area. The new playground is recommended for children 5-12 years of age with adult supervision.

March 23rd The Resort will host its Grand Opening of the Pirate Ship at 4PM. SeviervilleMayor Bryan Atchley is schedule to cut the ribbon. Along with the mayor, “Captain Jesse Raven” will be available for pictures with the “little pirates” . DUE TO THUNDERSTORMS FORECASTED FOR MARCH 23rd THE GRAND OPENING HAS BEEN POSTPONED.
The new Lumberjack Feud Dinner & Show will open Aug. 26 on the parkway in Pigeon Forge. The show will feature both actors and professional lumberjack athletes, some of whom have been seen on ESPN. The athletes, in head-to-head competition, will participate in log-rolling, boom-running, speed climbing and wood chopping.

The show, in its new 26,000 square foot arena, will be based loosely on this area’s logging business as the woodlands were transformed in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. With three different price plans guests can choose from a show-only option, a snack-lunch ticket, or the full dinner show. The full dinner show option will include chicken breast, ribs, several sides, dessert, and a beverage.
Adjoining the theater’s retail & ticket center is the new Smoky Mountain Forestry History Center. The museum will highlight the area’s history beginning with native inhabitants continuing with the pioneers & homesteaders in the Smokies during the early days of the logging industry.
The 2nd Annual Civil War Relic Show & Sale will be held August 27-28 at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center. After a hugely attended first show in 2010 this years show looks to be bigger and better. The 2011 schedule calls for a living history camp, artillery demonstration, original & reproduction pieces from the National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus GA plus vendors and collectors of Civil War Memorabilia from around the country.

Attendees include The 8th TN (US) & The 63rd TN (CS), who will have members at the living history site, Mr. Ross Moore (vocalist, musician, & Humorist), who will perform on stage Saturday, and O’ROY(Our Reflections of Yesterday).

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park will host its 7th annual “Music of the Mountains”. The three day event will begin on April 8th at the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center in Townsend, TN. On Saturday the 9th the Sugarlands Visitor Center, just south of Gatlinburg, will host 6 free events through out the day. The final day’s event will be held Sunday afternoon in Cosby, TN at the Smoky Mountain Visitor Center.
There is a $5 per person admission charge at the concert in Townsend, which will begin at 7PM. The concert in Cosby costs $4 per person and will begin at 2PM.
The Resort @ Governor’s Crossing will open its outdoor portion of the waterpark this coming Saturday March 5th. The outdoor portion features a lazy river, water slide, lumberjack log roll, Jacuzzi, and kiddies’ pool with water highlights. Of course one of the most popular features is the giant sunning deck for sun worshipers.
The hours of the outdoor waterpark are 9AM till 10PM. The indoor waterpark also opens at 9AM and remains open till at 11PM.
The dates have been set for Sevierville’s 2011 Bloomin BBQ & Bluegrass, the city’s largest event. This annual street fair style festival features a championship barbeque cook off and bluegrass concerts from rising stars and many of the legends of bluegrass. Celebrate New Years Eve at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies with their 10th annual “Dance with the Sharks”.
