Guests of The Resort at Governor’s Crossing can earn bonus Smoky Mountain Rewards points by donating a toy during their Toys for Tots collection drive. Now through Dec. 6 a new unwrapped toy will earn 10,000 Smoky Mountain Rewards Points that can be used during a future stay.
The Toys for Tots program began in 1947. The program was founded by Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR, in Los Angeles, California. That first year they collected 5000 toys for Christmas for needy children. The following year the United States Marine Corps adopted Toys for Tots and have collected and donated over 16.8 million toys throughout the years. Smoky Mountain Rewards is the rewards program of Smoky Mountain Resorts which is the management company of The Resort and owner of 6 additional hotels in Sevierville and Pigeon Forge TN. Guests can earn points that can be used towards free or discounted future stays.
Guests who present an unwrapped new toy (sorry, no stuffed animals) valued at $10 or more are eligible to receive 10,000 bonus points now through Dec. 6, 2014. Guests receive only 10,000 points regardless of the number of toys they donate during their stay. Points award cannot be used on current stay.
Sevierville,TN – The Resort at Governor’s Crossing is the winner of a 2014 Orbitz Best in Stay Award for being a top-rated hotel in Sevierville. The 2014 Orbitz Best In Stay Awards honor nearly 400 top-rated hotels in 75 popular destinations based on reviews by Orbitz customers. In addition to the destination winners, Best in Stay winners were also selected in six categories: Value, Luxury, Family, LGBT, Ski and All-Inclusive.
Orbitz Best in Stay 2014
Orbitz Best In Stay Award winners are selected based on the overall numeric score of verified hotel reviews submitted by Orbitz customers that have booked and stayed at hotels over the past year. Customers are asked to rate a variety of hotel attributes on a scale of 1 to 5, including amenities, maintenance, hotel staff, room comfort, location, and value. Those ratings are supplemented by input from nearly 150 Orbitz hotel experts who factor in other market conditions, such as the number of reviews, frequency of booking and reputation of hotel staff.
“With customers booking hotels on Orbitz.com and our other sites in record numbers, we expanded the Best In Stay Awards to recognize even more best-in-class hotels as rated by customers,” said Peggy Bianco, group vice president of global hotel supplier services for Orbitz.com. “In the age of mobile and social media, customers use our nearly 2 million hotel reviews to make real-time decisions about their trips based on advice from other customers. Orbitz is proud to honor these highly rated Best In Stay properties that provide exemplary service and make our customers’ hotel stays memorable.”
In 2010 the US Mint launched the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. The mint began issuing quarters embossed with designs featuring national parks or national sites.
This past week the mint released the Great Smoky Mountains Quarter, the 21st coin in the program. The coin’s design features a historic log cabin found within the National Park (presumably the John Oliver Cabin in Cades Cove) with a mountain backdrop and a hawk soaring above.
The Great Smoky Mountains Commemorative Quarter
The Resort at Governor’s Crossing was fortunate to receive some of these quarters at their release. As a special thank you to our guests staying the nights of February 16th and/or 17th during the Presidents Day weekend, we will be handing out a “mint state” Great Smoky Mountains Quarter in a protective plastic case.
Commemorative quarters are limited to one per guest unit. The quantity is very limited and not for sale.

We receive many inquires regarding The Resort @ Governor’s Crossing listing on the discount web sitePigeon Forge Hot Deals. First off, The Resort does not own this web site; we are just listed on it. Along with The Resort this web site currently lists a hotel in Sevierville and five other hotels in Pigeon Forge.
We thought we would answer a few frequently asked questions: How come you didn’t accept my offer? The misconception put out on TV is that properties will accept 50-75% off their rates. At The Resort these units are individually owned and the homeowner expects a certain rate when their unit is rented. Plus there is a limit to how low a room can be rented due to the costs incurred in renting and cleaning that room. With increased labor costs, the cost of materials and supplies, plus utilities, the old adage “better than any empty room” is no longer true. How come I have to submit a new offer to change my dates of stay, why can’t you just do it? The rates accepted or counter offered are an average over the nights that are requested. Weekday and weekend rates differ, sometimes by large amounts; one added or subtracted day may have a big effect. Also, when one reserves at the Pigeon Forge Hot Deals rate they agree they will honor the dates requested and the property will honor that rate, it is a binding agreement. It says I have five days to reserve but when I went to book my unit it came back as not available? The rate accepted or countered is honored for five days, not the unit. The unit is not held until a guaranteed reservation is made and that requires a deposit of the first’s night stay.
A few tips on using Pigeon Forge Hot Deals · As the web site states; Pigeon Forge Hot Deals is for last minute deals. Making an offer 3 months out is going to receive little or no discount. · Do not make a counter offer for less than your original offer for the same dates and unit type, the system will automatically decline it. ·The system does track email address and names to the dates of stay, trying to beat the system rarely works.
